Summary

After his collegial studies, Yv works in the installation of drinking water systems in the rural areas of Peru. He obtains a baccalaureate in Health Sciences and a Millwright diploma. He works a few years with Bombardier Industrial Engine factory in Montreal, and then directs a project of rural sanitation in Guinea-Bissau. He completes a baccalaureate in mathematics before teaching data processing in the Faculty of Medicine of University of Burundi and in the National Programme of Fight against AIDS in Kigali. His thesis in epidemiology relates to software use to improve the epidemiologic surveillance in Sub-Saharan Africa. Under the aegis of the Centre de coopération internationale en santé et développement (CCISD), he applies these concepts to training technicians in epidemiology (PASÉ) in various areas of Burkina Faso Ivory Coast, Mali and Niger. While continuing other studies in epidemiology, collaborating to preventive medicine courses for first cycle students of the Faculty of Medicine of Laval University and by continuing its collaboration with the CCISD, he completes a Doctorate in Medicine and a Speciality in Community Medicine (Public Health and Preventive Medicine). He then works as medical advisor at Public Health Direction of Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, and then as Public Health Director of Iiyiyiu Aschii and Assistant Executive Director of the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay. He also acts as adjunct professor with the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health of McGill University. From May 2006 to March 2007, he takes over temporarily the duties of the executive director of the CBHSSJB while maintaining the legal mandate of the Public Health Director. Concurrently, he is doing a Master in management under the supervision of Henry Mintzberg of McGill University and is acting as one of the principal investigators in Nituuchishaayihitaau Aschii project (Environmental Health). Between September 2008 and August 2010, he acts as head of the health promotion and wellness and prevention of diseases and injuries in Chaudière-Appalaches while holding a professorship in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in University Laval. Since July 2009, he is also chairperson of the Quebec Specialists in Community Medicine Association. Since September 2010, he is Director of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in University Laval. He also serves on the boards of directors of the Center for International Cooperation in Health and Development (CCISD) and the Public Health Association of Quebec (ASPQ).
